Summer’s Journey is a mockumentary that chronicles the lives of those associated with a fictional television show, “The Silly Billy Show.” The film was shot by Kent State University professor William Kist over an 17-year period and includes footage in various video and film formats. Paul Scruggs, Jr, who was only seven years old when his first scenes were shot, portrays Tim Christopher, a boy who is trying to come to terms with his long absent father, Sam Christopher (William Kist.) Working with a cast of over 40 people, Kist shot footage beginning in 1988 and ending in 2005. Edited by Angela Holland, the film becomes a scrapbook not only of the stories of the fictional characters portrayed, but it also stands as a record of an extraordinary collaboration between actors and a writer/director. |
